León Day Trip by High Speed Train
The high-speed train to León will leave first thing in the morning from Madrid-Chamartín station.
When you arrive at León station, you'll have to make your own way to Santo Domingo Square, in the city centre, where we'll start the guided tour of the old town. We'll visit the Santa María de Regla Cathedral, one of the most important gothic buildings in the Iberian Peninsula.
We'll spend an hour walking through the medieval streets of the city and admiring some of its main monuments, such as the Conde Luna Palace, the San Isidoro Basilica and the Old Town Hall. The tour will also take us past the bars within the Húmedo Quarter and follow the traces of the Way of Saint James that cross the Romantic Quarter.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to Plaza de Regla to start a one-hour guided tour of the León Cathedral.
Then you'll have the rest of the day to explore León at your leisure. You can stroll through the narrow streets, enjoy León's cuisine or visit some of the city's most famous buildings.
You'll have to make your own way back to León train station, to get the train back to Madrid at 5:25 pm, arriving at Atocha at 7:42 pm.
