Cable Girls TV Tour

We currently don’t have any scheduled dates for this activity.

Follow in the footsteps of Lidia, Carlota, Marga and Ángeles, with this tour of the most famous filming locations for Cable Girls. A journey back to the Madrid of the 1920s!

Cable Girls TV Tour

The tour meets at 7 pm, at the Civitatis offices on Calle Coloreros, and from there we'll take you to plaza del Alamillo. This little square is the perfect place to begin our tour of the Cable Girls (Chicas del Cable) locations, and might seem a little familiar to you... yep, that's right, on this little street you can find the Pensión Dolores, where the young operators live in the series.

From there we'll take the route Lidia, Carlota, Ángeles and Marga would take every morning on their way to work, passing via calle Lope de Vega, where any number of outdoor scenes were shot. And along the way your guide will bring to life the Madrid of the 1920s, as women entered the world of work and the city centre became defined by the elegant and art deco style of Gran Vía.

On the way, we'll arrive at one of the most iconic settings for Cable Girls - the Atocha train station. There you can almost picture the scene where Alba and Francisco met on the platform - the very spot where they separated as children then met again, years later.

The Telefónica Building on Gran Vía is our next stop - where the 'chicas' work, for the first telephone company founded in Spain. This is the building outside of which Carlos Cifuentes would climb from his car, into another day of intrigue and power struggles in the company, and if you imagine hard enough you could even see Lidia arriving on her first day working the switchboard.

Finally we'll make our way to Paseo de Recoletos, and at number 31 you'll find a very special establishment. It's the El Espejo restaurant - a stunning, light-filled café, complete with original '20s details, and the bar that inspired the café where the girls would meet after work, to drown their sorrows, talk out their problems, or plan their next intrigue... Just like the girls, you can stop here for a coffee or a bite to eat (not included), and as the tour comes to an end you'll feel so fully immersed in the world of the Cable Girls that it might be a shock to return to the 21st century!
