Flamenco Show in the Tablao 1911

The Tablao Flamenco 1911, established in 1911 where an old chocolate mill once stood, is one of the capital’s Flamenco sanctuaries. It's carved arches, which were inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, have drawn in world-famous cantaores (singers), guitarristas (guitar players) and bailaores (dancers). Some of the most renowned have been Fernanda de Utrera, Lola Flores, Imperio Argentina, Juanito Valderrama, Juan Varea, Miguel de Molina, Antonio Mairena, Antonio Arenas, José Antonio Díaz Fernández "Chaquetón" and Pepe Marchena.

Since its opening, the Tablao Flamenco 1911's performances have been so acclaimed that dignitaries such as Alfonso XIII of Spain, the bohemian Hemingway or the American actress and singer, Ava Gardner have been guests at the tablao. The Tablao Flamenco 1911 has also appeared in Almodóvar’s melodrama “High Heels”.

Nowadays, the Tablao Flamenco 1911 still offers very high-quality shows on a daily basis and welcomes the best dancers, singers and artists of the Spanish flamenco world in a fully restored space. Its façades are adorned with tiles that were designed between 1915 and 1920 and depict the most beautiful corners of the most famous capitals of Andalusia and Madrid.

The shows, which always last 1 hour, feature dancers, guitarists and singers and are highly expressive, sensual and full of colour. Attending one of these shows is an unforgettable experience like no other.
