Chueca and Malasaña Free Tour
Want to explore two of Madrid's trendiest neighborhoods? On this free tour, we'll delve into alternative Malasaña and get to know the cosmopolitan side of Chueca.
Chueca and Malasaña Free Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet up in Plaza de la Luna, next to the door of the San Martin de Tours Church, and set off on our tour of some of Madrid's most popular neighborhoods.
The free tour will begin walking towards the Malasaña neighborhood as we pass by the Lara and Alfil theaters. We'll also see the church of San Antonio de los Alemanes, and walk along the iconic Pez street. Did you know that on this street you can find one of the most typical Malasaña bars?
The walk will take us to the Plaza del Dos de Mayo, the heart of the neighborhood. Here people of all kinds gather to enjoy the most authentic parts of Malasaña. In fact, near here are some bars that played a crucial role in the so-called Movida Madrileña of the 80s. We'll learn all about this fascinating history.
We'll then go to the Museum of History of Madrid and, after admiring its baroque façade, we'll walk along Fuencarral street towards Chueca. On the way, we'll see the exterior of the San Ildefonso market, the church of San Antón, and the convent of Las Recogidas.
Finally, we'll arrive in Chueca and its famous square. We'll pass in front of the most famous stores, many of them linked to the LGBT+ culture, which is very representative of this neighborhood.
We'll finish the free tour in the Plaza del Rey while we'll admire the House of the Seven Chimneys and learn about the mysteries it hides within.
